BARN BUNKHOUSE

The barn on this client’s horse property was the perfect space to create a bunkhouse for ranch hands, but now that the space is complete, all future guests will want to stay in the bunkhouse!  Working within the footprint of half of the roughly plumbed concrete floored barn with an existing wall separating the space into two large rooms, the client requested a kitchenette, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate mud room with laundry facilities. I designed custom stainless steel counters with a rivet edge detail and provided a full kitchenette complete with Summit refrigerator/freezer drawers, a built-in convection microwave and a commercial hot plate.  For the bathroom, I chose a black pebble shower floor and random pebble backsplash behind a rock vessel sink.  The main flooring is a hand-scraped plank floor, and the space is tied together with a black trim package on the doors, windows and baseboards.  The finely finished bunkhouse is not only functional but downright inviting!
